Tom Alkim
Strategisch Adviseur Connected & Automated Mobility

Before joining the MAP team, I accumulated about 25 years of experience in the public sector with Rijkswaterstaat, Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management and the European Commission, DG Research and Innovation. My field of experience lies within the ITS domain in general and C-ITS, Connected & Automated Driving and Smart Mobility in particular. Some of my contributions and responsibilities were: various field operational tests, European projects, the Cooperative Mobility Showcase 2010, the Dutch Integrated Test site for Connected Mobility (DITCM), the Declaration of Amsterdam and the European Truck Platooning Challenge during the Dutch EU presidency in 2016, the Dutch Knowledge agenda for Automated Driving, developing an internationally recognized visual representation of the Operational Design Domain (ODD), organizing the EUCAD conferences in 2019 and 2021, the Strategic Research & Innovation Agenda of the European Commission, chair of the CCAM platform working group “coordination and cooperation of R&I and testing activities”, the launch of the CCAM Partnership and the Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe Frameworks.

My drive is to advance Connected & Automated Mobility to reality, as a subset of smart mobility and with transforming mobility in mind. In my opinion this can only be done in a multi-disciplinary and cooperative manner, on an international level and in the spirit of learning by doing, where every step can benefit from the previous step. With my network, knowledge and experience I can be an advisor, intermediary, facilitator, or accelerator for your Connected & Automated Mobility ambitions.
